Compact and simple design with no need of ribbon cables, wires, additional ICs, and breadboard when connected via Pi shield IO pins.
Directly fits over 40 pin GPIO socket on the main board (multiple brands ARM processing boards supported see list below.)
Practical use in large-scale projects.
Protects ARM boards with risk of over voltage damage; this could happen if peripherals are connected directly to GPIO headers where logic voltage is more than 3.3v.
Compatible with existing code and software libraries, e.g. Wiring Pi library.
